Happy new year !!!

I always love the excitement and joy that comes with starting a new year. It is not easy to see the end of a year and cross over to the next year! It just feels like there is this renewed hope to do or achieve what you could not in the previous year despite everything that happened.

In todays letter, I am going to be sharing with you lessons I learnt from the previous year that will be of help to you and what I plan to do this year to be better than the last year.

Firstly, I have come to know that just because you couldn't achieve what you wanted to last year, does not mean you failed.

You see, as much as the calendar shows 2023, Even though it is a new year, There is really not much change. What do I mean?

The week continues, the day continues, nothing changes except the date on the Calendar. just because it is a new year, it does not mean that a huge miracle will happen or all the issues or challenges from the previous year will just vanish.

Of course we should be grateful for being alive, but if we want a change in our lives, a new and good change in a new year, we are going to have to do more than just pray and wish for something to happen just because a new year is starting.

The truth is this:

you will still be broke

or you will still be fat

or you will still procrastinate IF you do not make any effort to see the changes you want. And that leads me to my first lesson of 2022, A lesson I will continue to learn and remind myself of.

1. Step out of your comfort zone.

Almost a year ago, I would never have thought I would be able to make money online. I never would have thought that I could actually talk to strangers and sell something to them. It never felt like my kind of thing.

I hated selling because it always seemed like begging.

I hated writing except it was school work but now, I love copywriting

I hated making hair cuz I thought it was tooo much stress to make another person's full and long hair but now, knotless braids is my fav hair to make and I can charge money for it if i like.

People are never willing to step out of their comfort zone but get this. It is only outside of your comfort zone that you see progress and get your dream goals.

2. Just start.

This has to be the biggest lesson for me.

-start confused

-start broke

-start slow

-start anyhow... but make sure you start. I have come to see that there is no perfect time to do anything or you will keep waiting for the right time, right weather, right financial status... etc and it will never come.

But if you are determined, start with whatever you have and I promise, that is the hardest step you will need to take. Every other thing? You will figure it out along the way.

3. No one cares about you.

I am guilty of thinking of what other people will say. It something I struggled with and still struggling with. I am always thinking of what other people will think about me if I start this business or post this motivation blah blah blah...

But these people's thoughts and opinions will not put food on my table. So when it comes to my business, I should be able to carry it on my head with pride.

Going forward this year, I want to stick more to these 3 major lessons I learnt last year and improve overall especially my finances.

I want to take more of my own advice and double down on learning and putting in the work to actually get the results I want for myself. My biggest aim is to be the person that does not just talk but also do.

Talk is cheap.

I am always scared of setting big goals but I want to set crazy goals for myself this year. At least if I don't get them, i will be half way there compared to the average goals I would normally set.

So yeah that's my plan for 2023
